En 1986, àBerkeley (Californie)le groupe se forme, mais sous le nom de"Sweet Children". Il est composé de Billie Joeà la guitare et au chant, deMikeà la basse, et d'Al Sobranteà la batterie. Puis, le groupe change de nom car il leur semble un peu trop gentil. Ils adoptent le nom de"Green Day", en référence aux jours passés à glander en fumant de l'herbe. Al Sobrante décide de quitter le groupe par la suite, et les deux autres trouvent vite un autre batteur :Tre Cool.Bio des membres :

est né le 17 février 1972 à Oakland, en Californie.
Il est le dernier d'une fratrie de six enfants, et vit à Rodeo, en Californie.
C'est le fils d'Andrew Marciano Armstrong (que tout le monde appelle Andy) et qui est chauffeur routier Safeway et un batteur de jazz à mi-temps, et d'Ollie Armstrong, qui est une fan de country music, et dont le travail est serveuse au Rod's Hickory Pit.
Le 15 septembre 1982, Andy meurt d'un cancer de l'½sophage, Billie Joe était alors âgé de 10 ans.
Juste avant de mourir, son père lui a offert une guitare, une Fernandes Stratocaster bleue (copie du célèbre modèle Fender) que Billie Joe surnommera Blue.
A l'âge de 11 ans, Billie Joe Armstrong entre au collège Carquinez, et y fait la rencontre d'un certain Michael Ryan Pritchard (futur Mike Dirnt) au réfectoire de l'école, où ils n'ont parlé que de musique car les jeunes garçons partagent cette même passion. *Mike Dirnt* pr un peu plus d'1fos : cliik
(né Michael Ryan Pritchard), est né le 4 mai 1972 à Berkeley, en Californie. Son père a quitté sa mère adolescente toxicomane (accro à l'héroïne) avant sa naissance, ce qu'il fait qu'il ne l'a jamais connu.
Il a été placé à 6 semaines avec sa soeur Myla dans une famille d'acceuil, mais leurs parents adoptifs se séparèrent lorsqu'il avait 7 ans.
Mike alla de famille d'acceuil en famille d'acceuil jusqu'à l'adolescence, mais il finit par retourner vivre (avec sa soeur) chez sa mère adoptive, Myla partira de la maison à 13 ans.
Après la venue d'un beau-père qu'il n'apprécie pas du tout, il décide lui aussi de quitter le giron familial. *Tre Cool* pr un peu plus d'1fos : cliik
(né Frank Edwin Wright III), est né le 9 décembre 1972 à Francfort Allemagne, lorsqu'ils étaient de passage là-bas, car la famille habitera par la suite à Willits, en Californie.
Son père (pilote d'hélicoptère) a participé à la guerre du Vietnam et sa mère s'appelle Linda.
Agée de 12, il intègre son premier groupe punk "the lookout" après avoir fait la connaissance de Lawrence Livermore qui lui apprit les reduments de la batterie.
Al sobrante des Green Day ayant quitté le groupe, Billie Joe et Mike durent lui trouver un remplacent à la batterie, et il apparut que notre Mister Tre Cool était un très bon choix. Ils se disaient qu'il n'accepterait surement pas (à cause de la grande popularité qu'avait les Lookout) mais Tré ne fut pas de cet avis, d'autant plus que les trois étaient de très bons amis.GREEN DAY HAS RECORDED 7 ALBUMS, AND SOME OTHERS :
